Getting started

For the GHL agency admin who is installing Optigram on a sub-account. Plan on about five minutes after the Marketplace install. Use this checklist first; the linked pages have the detail.

Install Optigram on the sub-account from the GoHighLevel Marketplace. Approve OAuth and open the Optigram Custom Page. Details: Install & connect.
Create a BotFather bot, paste the token in Optigram, and connect. One bot per location — do not reuse a token. Details: Create a Telegram bot.
Confirm Webhook health is ok and Optigram is listed and active under Settings → Conversation Providers. Details: Install & connect.
Invite the contact (or generate a capture-new link). For an existing GHL contact, open their record and click Invite to Telegram (SMS, email, or copy). For a new lead or a website/QR, generate a link on the Custom Page with the contact id left blank. Paste-id on the Custom Page is a fallback if the Invite button is missing. Details: How to use.
The contact taps Start in Telegram (you can do this yourself for a test). Confirm the thread in GHL Conversations, then reply there. Do not send from Conversations before that Start.

Do not start a conversation from GHL. Opening a new Conversations thread and sending text to a contact who has not opted in fails with no_telegram_optin. Invite them from the contact record (or share a Custom Page link); they tap Start; then you reply.

Keep in mind

Leave the Custom Page contact id blank to capture a new lead. For an existing contact, use Invite to Telegram on their record (or paste the GHL contact id as a fallback). Optigram does not match by phone or name. The Custom Page can hide that button; you can restyle it with Company Custom CSS. See How to use.
One BotFather bot per location. If the token is already connected elsewhere, create a new bot.
Token-less /start (someone found the bot via search) is always rejected. Optigram does not cold-message anyone — Telegram bots cannot start a chat. There is no dashboard setting to capture or prompt those users.
A placeholder phone number on the contact is expected. Use the Telegram Handle custom field. See Install & connect.
